The Pitch, June 27, 2012
We met to celebrate (and lament) the end of Tom Fisher’s year as president. It was only last month that he took office, wasn’t it? Tom did a tremendous job in spite of difficulties that were beyond the club’s control.
Each table featured a bottle of Ponzi Pinot Noir. Need I say more? We also warmed up with a collection of exquisite white and red wines hand picked by Chevalier Bernard.
Because of his long service to the club and the club foundation, we named Jim Likes the Rotarian of the Year. Thanks for everything, Jim.
We spent the evening celebrating the past and anticipating the future under the leadership of incoming president, Jerry Zampa. Tom spoke briefly about his year as president. We presented him with a commemorative plaque, the Past President pin and badge, and the ceremonial Hawaiian beads that are the trappings of our appreciation. We passed the baton to Jerry, who gave a brief overview of his plans for the coming year. Then we adjourned for the last time in Tom’s administration.
We are dark next week in celebration of the Fourth. Our next meeting is July 11, when we will also have Jerry’s first board meeting.
